The poet who believed in noble thoughts. The mental attitude of Viktor Dyk toward fascism
Vopatová, Nicola ; Koura, Petr (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis will study the mental attitude of Viktor Dyk (poet, prose writer, and politician) to fascism. The aim of this thesis is to understand the development of his thinking, identify the key historic moments that shaped him, and in doing so, reconstruct his political opinion. Those historic moments are most importantly the events of December 1987, the first world war, the fall of the Habsburg monarchy and the creation of the Czechoslovakian republic (1914-1918). The year 1922 (in which the first fascist groups in Czechoslovakia were created) was crucial for the shaping of his relationship to fascism. The goal of this work is to evaluate, whether Viktor Dyk leaned towards fascism or not. To allow us to study Dyk's relationship to fascism, the first part is dedicated to defining fascism. Afterwards we define the basic principles on which fascism stands. A short chapter is dedicated to Dyk's life, which is important to understand his worldview. The objective of the second part is to analyse Dyk's position on the fascist principles, which were defined in the first part. For this analysis, Dyk's poems, political speeches, journal articles and his prosaic works were used. In the framework of the three principles of fascism (leader, state, and nationalism) are also analysed the motives, which...

Discourse Analysis of Political Attitudes of the Czech President Miloš Zeman and far-right political parties
Vocel, Jan ; Švec, Kamil (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
The key research question of my diploma thesis deals with the problem of whether the President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman creates the same discourse as far-right political parties in the Czech Republic. The research concerns the social discourse surrounding the current migration crisis facing Europe. In this connection, there is a discourse analysis of the themes of migration, Islam, terrorism, external and internal actors. This research is conducted on the basis of the theory of binaries from Teun Van Dijk, which can be applied to a populist political style characterized by President Zeman and extreme right-wing political parties, among which are analyzed the Workers' Party of Social Justice, National Democracy, Dawn - the National Coalition, Freedom And Direct Democracy - Tomio Okamura and the Citizens' Rights Party. Research data is collected from President Zeman's official communications channels and political parties, including official websites and social networks. Based on a discourse analysis of their political views, it is possible to compare President Zeman and the extreme right-wing parties to each topic and to conclude whether they speak the same or differently about these themes.

The Influence of Czech fascism on National Democrats and its Forms
Vozňaková, Veronika ; Charvát, Jan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
The purpose of the thesis is to examine the relationships between the Czech fascists and the National Democratic Party in all its forms. The thesis covers the analysis of these relationships and their displays. The author used analytical and comparative methods as well as available specialized literature and other sources. The dissertation is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter analyzes the fascist theory, its main characteristics and, in one of its subchapter, the specific Czech scheme for better understanding of the fascist environment during the First Czechoslovakian Republic era. The second chapter deals with fascists' actions and operation during the First Czechoslovakian Republic era. For important changes that took place in 1938, the political system of the so called "Second Republic" is briefly mentioned, as the political direction was extremely right wing oriented. The third chapter focuses on the National democratic party and analyzes the party's activities up to 1935. For better compression, the Czechoslovak political system is also outlined in this section. Chapter four is the key part of the dissertation as it deals with the relations and cooperation between the Czech fascists and National democracy and cooperation with the National Unity from 1935. Karel Kramář, Roman Dmowski and Russia
Eidrnová, Markéta ; Vykoukal, Jiří (advisor) ; Švec, Luboš (referee)
The thesis introduces the comparison of political approaches of Karel Kramář and Roman Dmowski towards Russia or rather towards the Russian factor. At the beginning of the 20th century these two politicians from the national-democratic circles decided independently of each other to look for a help in order to achieve independence of their nations within Russia. They were not lead only by objective reasons because Russia seemed to be the most acceptable and the most appropriate variant but also by subjective feelings, like for example their antagonism towards Germans and Germany itself or in case of Karel Kramář his affection for anything Russian. The Russian factor did not disappear from their conceptions even after the creation of an independent Czechoslovakia and Poland and it continued to be a permanent part of these conceptions. Kramář was faithful to his idea of future democratic Russia and the Slavic federation headed by this new Russia and even the Bolshevik Revolution could change his mind. Kramář assumed that Czechoslovakia could only be permanently safe by the union with democratic Russia. Although Kramář laid more emphasis on the Russian factor than Dmowski, Russia did not lose its importance for Dmowski. However, the importance gradually declined after the creation of independent...
